THE FLOOR BESIDE THE DESK — Both household cats have jointly seized the family computer and announced the formation of an artificial intelligence company, in what analysts are calling the fastest founding-to-nap pipeline in the sector's history.
The occupation targets the tower's warm side, where a GeForce RTX graphics card vents heat through the case glass. Both cats arrived within minutes of the machine coming under load and have not left since.
The legal basis for the seizure is, by their own account, the doctrine established at the bass amplifier last week — namely, that warmth confers ownership. Atticus's office, which spent that entire proceeding insisting warmth was immaterial to his claim, now describes warmth as "the foundational principle of property law in this household."
Pressed repeatedly on what the company actually does, the founders offered a series of escalating non-answers. Early responses focused on "compute." Later responses focused on "scale." When a reporter asked directly whether either cat had ever operated the computer, the press office ended the availability.
Household sources dispute nearly every element of the founding narrative. "They're not running anything," said one member of the household, who was attempting to use the machine at the time of the seizure. "It's a warm box. They found a warm box. That's the whole company."
The startup faces immediate structural problems. It has no product, no customers, and no employees — a staffing situation complicated by the fact that one co-founder has now gone 1,400 consecutive days without employment and lists his primary skill as "sitting on warm laundry," which the company has reclassified as "thermal infrastructure management."
The other co-founder, Bean, holds the ceremonial title of Chief Executive and has spent the entirety of his tenure asleep against the glass.
The venture also represents an extraordinary reversal in relations between the two principals, who have spent most of the year in open conflict over the couch, the amplifier, a plastic wrapper, and the 4 PM feeding. Observers note that the two have not cooperated on anything since the wrapper was thrown away.
"The alliance is real but it is entirely thermal," said one analyst. "The instant that machine powers down, this company dissolves. There is no vision here. There is a radiator."
Atticus rejected the characterization, noting that many great companies began with two founders lying next to a heat source and adding that he considers the comparison to a radiator "reductive but not inaccurate."
The company has not disclosed a valuation. Asked for one, the press office said "large" and went back to sleep.
Complicating matters further, the tower sits within one foot of a power strip currently supporting six cables, a configuration the household's own safety advocacy group — Paws Against Rolling Furniture — flagged as hazardous earlier this season. Both founders were reminded of this. Both founders were unmoved, on the grounds that the cables are also slightly warm.
At press time, the machine had entered sleep mode and begun to cool. Both founders remained in position, waiting for the company to start working again.
